Some Like it Hot – The Benefits of Hot Yoga

Most of our yoga classes are heated to a comfortable 74-80 degrees. If you are looking for a little more heat, our Flow+Sweat  and Flow+Sculpt classes are heated to temperatures above 80 degrees which can have many benefits for both the body and mind:

  • Flexibility: The heat warms up muscles and relaxes soft tissue, which can increase your range of motion.
  • Cardiovascular Health: Exercising in the heat can increase your heart rate, respiration, and metabolism.
  • Stress Reduction: Hot yoga can decrease levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.
  • Bone Density: Practicing hot yoga helps preserve bone density, especially in women after menopause.
  • Improved Mood: Studies found that hot yoga can improve depressive symptoms in adults.
  • Sense of Well-Being: Hot yoga can enhance your sense of calmness and accomplishment.
  • Other Benefits: Hot yoga can also improve muscle strength and balance, burn calories and increase lung capacity.

*If you have any health conditions, including heart or artery issues, diabetes, anorexia nervosa, a history of fainting, or heat intolerance, consult your doctor first before doing a hot yoga session.

FAQs​

Yes! Although any class can be adapted to fit your level, we suggest starting with Yoga Foundations or Gentle Yoga. We’d love to have you learn with us!

Absolutely! You can check out our resources to learn more, but we offer an array of classes to serve an array of people!

Bring water to stay hydrated, a yoga mat if you have one, a towel, and an open mind. We have mats to borrow if you need one. All other equipment will be provided.

Yoga can be very beneficial during pregnancy, but make sure to let your instructor know that you are pregnant. Avoid twisting, inversions, abdominal strengthening poses, and lying on your belly. Remember, balancing poses may get tougher as you progress in your pregnancy, so use the wall or blocks to keep yourself balanced and to stay in the pose longer.

It is always appropriate to talk to the instructor about any existing physical conditions or concerns. Yoga benefits many people with chronic pain by helping the body regain its balance between strength and flexibility, movement and awareness. If you are under a doctor’s care for an acute situation, please be sure to discuss taking yoga classes with him or her.

To provide the most relaxing and safe environment, we close and lock the door promptly when class begins. This allows our instructors to focus on their students in a safe and undisturbed environment. We encourage you to arrive early so you can prepare your space, set your class intention, and even visit with your friends!
