Why Choose Somatic Massage

Many people experience chronic tension, emotional stuckness, or unresolved stress—but conventional massage may only scratch the surface. Somatic massage works at a deeper level, acknowledging how trauma, stress, and life patterns are stored in the body. We highly recommend checking out the book The Body Keeps the Score to gain a deeper understanding.

This is not just about relaxing muscles. It’s about reconnecting you with your own body’s wisdom, helping you process emotional and physical blocks so you can move forward feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded.

Nervous system regulation & stress reduction. Slow, deliberate techniques shift you out of “fight/flight” mode into deeper rest.

Enhanced body awareness & emotional integration. You learn to sense and release what’s been held in muscle, fascia, and posture.

Longer-lasting relief & resilience. As your body and mind learn to self-regulate, you carry balance beyond the session.

What Is Somatic Massage Therapy?

Somatic massage blends the art of therapeutic touch with somatic awareness—the practice of sensing internal bodily experiences. It differs from purely muscular massage in that it:

Unlike traditional massage, which often aims to “fix” tight muscles, somatic massage invites your whole system—mind, body, and breath—to participate in healing. It honors your natural rhythm, allowing time for sensation to arise, be noticed, and release.

Practitioners often use light touch, intentional stillness, gentle rocking, or supported movement. Sessions may include guided awareness (“What do you notice here?”), therapeutic silence, or guided visualizations to help you connect more deeply with your inner experience. There’s no pressure to talk, but you’re welcome to share what arises.

Somatic massage can be especially powerful for people holding trauma in the body, even when they can’t always articulate it verbally. It creates a safe space for healing without needing to “explain” everything.

Meet Your Massage Therapist

Hannah Lasher

In the spring of 2022, in my late 30s, I found myself shifting into a new season of life.  With a certificate to practice massage therapy and a deep desire to use my healing and nurturing personality massage felt like coming home.

During my training I explored different forms of massage adding many tools to my “tool box” and found myself drawn to the gentle touch work of Craniosacral Therapy (CST).  I have found that engaging with the body in an energetic manner and allowing the client’s body to release tension and unwanted “yuck” gives longer lasting results and a deeper sense of calm.

More than anything I have enjoyed being a safe and calm place for my clients to learn a little more about who they are on their healing journey. It is my greatest hope to help others “Find Wholeness In Healing.”

Who Benefits Most?

For Chronic Tension and Physical Discomfort

Somatic massage offers meaningful support for a wide range of individuals. Those living with chronic tension, such as persistent back or neck pain,  or recurring postural imbalances, often find lasting relief through this gentle, body-aware approach. It’s also deeply nurturing for individuals navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or a general sense of being stuck, helping reconnect the body and mind in a way that fosters calm, clarity, and ease.

Clients who are navigating recovery from trauma or PTSD may benefit from the gentle, body-centered nature of somatic massage. It’s ideal for anyone looking to deepen their mind‑body connection, including those interested in embodiment work or personal development.

This modality is equally valuable for people who habitually carry stress in their bodies—especially those in caregiving roles, healing professions, or anyone who feels energetically depleted. Highly sensitive individuals often find it grounding and restorative.

Somatic massage creates a container for restoration at the deepest levels, allowing your system to slow down, reset, and gently unwind the patterns of holding that may no longer serve you.

Note: Because somatic work can stir emotional material, it’s best to work with a practitioner you trust. Always inform your therapist about injuries, surgeries, traumas, or emotional triggers ahead of time.

Session Options & What to Expect

75‑minute session — $150
90‑minute session — $175
120‑minute deep session — $225

Before Your Session

You’ll be invited to arrive a few minutes early to ground and set intentions. Your therapist will check in to gauge where you’re holding tension, any emotional terrain, and what your boundaries are.

During the Session

Expect a mix of slow, guided movement, light touch, breath cues, guided visualizations, and silent tracking. You may be asked to notice subtle sensations or shifts. It’s common to yawn, sigh, or feel emotional release. All of it is welcome as part of the process.

This is an unclothed, fully draped session. Your therapist will ensure that you are always professionally covered and that only the area being worked on is exposed. Your comfort, modesty, and safety are honored at every step.

After the Session

You’ll be given space to reflect, hydrate, and integrate. Your therapist may offer simple somatic practices or awareness exercises to support your integration between sessions. You may wish to journal, move gently, or rest after the session to support continued release.

How Somatic Massage Supports Long-Term Well-Being

One of the key differences with somatic massage therapy is that its effects often go beyond temporary relief. By helping you become more aware of your inner world—sensations, breath, posture, emotions—it builds the foundation for resilience and emotional agility.

Clients often report:

Over time, somatic massage becomes not just a treatment—but a tool for embodied living.

Combining Somatic Massage with Yoga & Holistic Therapies

At The Yoga Spa, we believe your healing journey is most powerful when it integrates mind, body, and soul. That’s why many of our clients pair somatic massage with:

These therapies support each other beautifully. While massage creates space in the body, yoga builds strength and flexibility. While somatics releases old emotional holding, meditation helps you observe new patterns.

You don’t need to know where to start. Our team can help you build a path that feels supportive, doable, and aligned with your goals.
